Music and Performing Arts

Students are offered a variety of activites to express themselves creatively, from band and orchestra to plays and musicals, from opportunities to be a member of the choir to the opportunity to show their individual vocal style.

Vocal music emphasizes singing and a wide range of other activities (improvising and composing music, understanding music in relation to history, listening to and evaluating music) to introduce students to the wonderful world of music and note reading. As an introduction to instrumental music, all fourth grade students are taught to play the recorder. Choirs at the High School, Middle School, and Parkview Center school continue the program with opportunities to perform in large groups, small ensembles, and individually.

Band and orchestra are offered through small group lessons and large group rehearsals beginning in the fourth grade. Roseville Area High School has had a tradition of strong music for a number of years. With a variety of different bands and orchestras available at the High School, Middle School, and Parkview Center School, students have the opportunity to focus on building fundamental skills and mature musicianship, as well as performing a wide variety of music. Performances include district-wide festivals, school concerts and special events.

Roseville Area Schools has a long tradition of producing quality mainstage productions. For decades, Roseville Area High School and Roseville Area Middle School have produced musicals and plays that delight and inspire audiences of all ages. Parkview Center School and the other elementary schools - Brimhall, Central Park, Edgerton, Emmet D. Williams, Falcon Heights, and Little Canada offer numerous opportunities to share in that tradition.
