Title I is a federally funded program that allows students to receive extra help in the areas of reading and/or math.

Title I teachers and teaching assistants offer extra support for reading and math concepts taught in the classroom.

The math support is often provided in the classroom through a teaching assistant. Reading will be done mostly through pull-out groups.

The children are grouped based on reading level and skills needed. The students will be monitored approximately every 6-8 weeks. This will allow us to continually change the groups of students so we can always be providing extra instruction to those children that need it most.

The instruction in the small group is in addition to what they receive in their classroom with their teacher and classmates.

Therefore we anticipate many students making the progress they need to be able to work in their classroom without the extra support, as the goal of the program is to teach students the necessary skills for success in the classroom.

How can I get involved with Title I planning at Edgerton or provide input about the program?
