The primary job of a school patrol is to make sure that all students, under the patrols' watchful eyes, practice safety rules. We have patrols who help out along bus routes and walking patrols, who guard intersections close to Falcon Heights School.
All patrols must attend a two hour workshop before school where their duties are defined, student safety being the major component of the session. During this meeting students are introduced to a member of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department who quizzes them on safety issues and swears in the patrol members.
School patrols must check a weekly duty schedule, wear their patrol vests, remind students of the safety rules, set a good example, and attend occasional short update meetings.
For all their efforts, school patrols are given a certificate and pin at the end of the school year. The 6th grade patrols, along with other 6th graders who have met their service goals, are invited to attend a day at Valleyfair. Most importantly, they also earn the respect and gratitude of our entire school population.
