Opportunities for Family Involvement

The PTA works with the school to provide quality education for all students. A $8 individual/$15 household annual membership fee is required to join PTA. The dues are divided between local, state, and national levels.  Our local PTA membership decides on its own programs, projects and legislative activities.

Parent volunteer work at Little Canada is both encouraged and appreciated. Parents are utilized in a number of areas, both within individual classrooms and in various resource areas of the school. A sign-up form with a list of options for volunteering will be sent home with your child.

Parent involvement also includes attendance at conferences in August and January as well as at school events. In addition, daily parental monitoring of your child's experiences at school is encouraged.

 

PTA Mission:

  • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.
  • To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect children.
  • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

PTA Meeting Dates:
You are encouraged to attend the PTA meetings. It is a great way to meet other parents and stay informed.

November 13, December 11, January 8, February 12, March-no meeting, April 8, and May 13

Roller Skating Nights:
Families are invited to join other Little Canada families for a fun night of roller skating at Saints North from 6-8:00 p.m.
Reminders are sent home with the children.

Funded through our PTA:

The Little Canada School PTA raises money to fund many extra projects for Little Canada.  Each year Karen Paul makes a beautiful quilt for a quilt raffle. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5 and will be available in the school office through November.  The drawing will be on December 3.
