The school supply list for the 2014-15 school year has been significantly changed. Please make sure you are using this version. We made the decision to shorten the school supply list and do away with the use of the binders due to the implementation of iPads.
1:1 iPad Initiative: 2014-15
As your student/s make the transition to officially becoming 8th graders, we want to make you aware of a 1:1 digital learning initiative that is taking place in the upcoming school year (2014-2015) at both RAMS and Parkview Center School. The goals of this initiative are to increase student engagement, accelerate learning, individualize instruction, encourage collaboration, reinforce 21st century skills, and provide equitable opportunities and access in order to increase the achievement of all students. As a parent or guardian you play an important role in your students educational and social development.
We want to partner with you to make this initiative as successful as possible. We have planned several parent/guardian meetings in late August for you to receive information on 1:1 policies and procedures, to receive further information about insurance and apple id setup options, and to sign off on documentation needed for your student(s) to receive their district issued iPad during the first week of school.
In order for your student(s) to receive their personalized learning device, a parent or guardian must attend one of the sessions listed below, all sessions will be held in the Roseville Area Middle School Auditorium.

The AVID application process and selection for the 2014-2015 school year is closed. The classes are full for the fall. If you are an incoming tranfsfer AVID student for 2014-2015 please let us know. If you are interested in being a part of the AVID system please contact the site coordinator.
We are proud at RAMS to have the AVID system for the last 6 years as part of our school's philosophy as well as have 4 sections of the AVID class. AVID Center Recognizes Roseville Area Middle School as an AVID National Certified School. AVID has been at RAMS since 2008.
AVID: Advancement Via Individual Determination is a college preparatory program.
The AVID classes (two 7th grade sections and two 8th grade section) meet every day - all year. In this class students benefit by learning collaboratively, use critical thinking, have trained AVID college tutors come 2 times a week to run inquiry based groups, take field trips to colleges, take Cornell style notes in all classes, and need to maintain a 3.2 GPA once they are selected to be in the class. The AVID class is supportive yet has high expectations to prepare these students for college. Most of the RAMS teachers have been AVID trained and use AVID strategies within their classroom so the strategies and philosophy is used throughout so it benefits all RAMS students.
In order for students to be considered for the AVID program they must meet one or more of the criteria: 1st generation to attend college, ethnicity not typically seen in 4 year colleges, free or reduced lunch program and special circumstances such as (single parent home, foster care, lives with grandparents,English not primary language spoken at home.
