Winter Weather Closing Information

Communication

Early dismissal of school or emergency school closings will be announced or displayed on WCCO radio station (830 AM), Channel 4 (WCCO), Channel 5 (KSTP), Channel 9 (Fox 9/KMSP), and Channel 11 (KARE). Generally, the district will be listed as "Roseville Area Schools".

In the event of an emergency school closing, the media will be contacted by 5:30 a.m. However, we cannot control when the announcement will be broadcast.

In addition to the media, the Communications Department will alert families and staff via a number of district communications methods including:

  • Blackboard (phone, email, and text)
  • Special Announcements for Families (email...like this one...)
  • Social media (Facebook and Instagram)
  • Website pop-up banners across district and school homepages

To ensure you receive timely messaging about any changes to the school schedule via phone and email, please keep your emergency contact information updated.

eLearning Plan

In the event of a weather-related cancellation, the first day will be a no-school day with no learning obligations. Starting with the second weather cancellation, eLearning will take place. When eLearning takes place:

  • Pre-K and elementary students (grades PreK-6) will use printed choice boards from take-home folders or access them online via the eLearning website (click here).
  • Secondary Students (grades 7-12) will complete assignments in Schoology, which will be posted by 10 a.m.
  • All teachers will be available between the hours of 10 a.m.-3 p.m. to support students.
