Greetings Roseville Area Schools community,
I’m excited to begin my role as superintendent and I am honored to continue to be a part of this strong team of dedicated employees. Summer learning is underway and, in many ways, it feels as though we’ve turned a corner on the pandemic that has so wildly disrupted the last two school years. I know that you all are as eager as I am to return to better, to take all that we have learned these difficult last two years and find a renewed sense of stability, as well as a laser-like focus on eliminating racial opportunity gaps. We will get there together!
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the school board for placing their trust in me, and to the many staff, students and community members who gave input on the sort of leadership they want for our school district. As some of you know, my daughter Quincy will begin first grade next year at our neighborhood school, E.D. Williams Elementary. It is a lovely parallel that she and I will be on a journey of firsts together this next year. I’m confident that her sense of wonder and excitement will continue to rub off on me as we prepare for a post-pandemic school year.
In the coming months, I will share more about my vision for our district, and how every staff member, each student and family will be integral to the work of returning to better. We have already dug into significant collaborative planning across the district and in each building. Later this summer and into the fall there will be opportunities for you to share with me and my colleagues your hopes for the future of our schools. And you will hear more about the board's decision to bring requests for increased school funding to district voters to support student needs and school operating costs.
Thank you for everything you do for our students and community. The work we are involved in will have tremendous consequences on the future of our young people and the world they will shape. I am honored to take this journey along with you all.
