COVID-19 Home Test Kits for Students Now Available
BinaxNOW COVID-19 home test kits for students are available for you to take home!
BinaxNow is an antigen test to use when someone has COVID-19 symptoms. Use this test for students with any cough, fever of 100.4 degrees or higher, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, muscle pain, excessive fatigue, new or severe headache, or congestion/runny nose.
If your student develops symptoms at school, we can send you home with a BinaxNOW test kit with parent/guardian permission. We need your verbal permission prior to sending home a kit. Kits are also available for families to pick up in the main office if you have a student at home with symptoms.
BinaxNOW is not an effective test for routine screening when someone feels well. This is a COVID-19 test to use when someone actively has symptoms.
Important info about the test
There are several steps in this home test kit. Watch this video before you take the test. It is important to do the test accurately. Watch this BinaxNOW step-by-step instruction video.
If you have a question about your test results, contact BinaxNOW technical support at 1-833-637-1594.
For routine weekly screening, a PCR test at a community clinic is the test to use. This link will connect you to testing clinics: COVID-19 Community Testing Sites
All tests at the state’s community testing sites are polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, molecular tests that detect the virus's genetic material. PCR tests are the most accurate tests for detecting the virus that causes COVID-19. A positive PCR test result is considered a confirmed case of COVID-19.
When a COVID-19 test is positive, stay home!
Someone with COVID-19 must isolate for 10 days. Call your student’s school health office. They will tell you when to return to school.
Thank you for helping to keep our school community healthy!
