Gifted & Talented Education Services

Challenging Students with Outstanding Abilities

Through Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Services, students who are identified with outstanding abilities are provided services and programming to meet their unique needs.

We use a variety of frameworks, curricula, and competitions to support what high ability and gifted/talented students need to be challenged and successful in school. As part of its framework, GATE Services has comprehensive early entrance and grade promotion procedures. The School Board's acceleration policy guides those actions.

Sharing Information through the GATE Listserv

We often use the GATE listserv to share relevant information with parents and others.  Signing up for the listserv is easy.

  • To subscribe, send an email to listserv@isd623.org and include the words "subscribe gatebulletin" (without the quotation marks).
  • To unsubscribe, send an email to listserv@isd623.org with the words “unsubscribe gatebulletin” (without the quotation marks) in the body of the email.

PowerPoint Presentations and PDFs

Periodically, we offer sessions regarding the GATE program and about parenting gifted children. Information on these sessions is communicated through the GATE Listserv, school newsletters, and school web sites.
