Harambee's 1st Annual Ice Cream Social a Terrific Success!

What's the best way to cool off on a hot summer night? Ice cream, face paint, books, family and FRIENDS! Harambee's first annual Ice Cream Social was a terrific success. Even with the heat, we had great attendance. Many thanks to our wonderful parent group for organizing this fun celebration.

Harambee 1st Graders Study Damselflies

Two 1st grade classes joined Ms. Eckman at the Harambee pond to learn first hand about Damselflies this summer! A partnership grant from the Capitol Region Watershed district is helping us get our youngest students involved in water quality and conservation through a pond and wetland study.

Yet another example of how our year-round calendar provides awesome opportunities for outdoor learning.

Harambee Elementary School students saw all of the life stages of a butterfly unfold in front of them, thanks to a catch-and-release experiment in environmental science classes.

Environmental Science students observe first stage tadpoles

One of the many great things about year-round school is being in session during tadpole season. In Environmental Science class this week, students are observing first stage tadpoles! This batch came from the White Bear Lake dog park beach. We hope to also get specimens from the Harambee pond for comparison.

5th and 6th graders send Memory Project portraits to Peru
