State Education Commissioner Mary Cathryn Ricker held a roundtable discussion with RAHS students to discuss student mental health. The conversation was in response to statewide results from the 2019 Minnesota Student Survey, which show that more Minnesota students than ever report having long-term mental health, behavioral or emotional problems.

The Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technologies recently inducted its newest members, including Brian Hoag, an industrial technology teacher at Roseville Area High School. Mr. Hoag is the first high school teacher in the nation to receive this honor and award.

*FAFSA Workshop: 10/21, 6:00-7:30 p.m., Media Center. College Financial Aid Reps will be available to assist with FAFSA questions. Complete your FAFSA this night! (students/parents). FAFSA opened for the 2020-2021 school year on October 1.
*Paying for College: On Wednesday, October 23, Mike Branch, Financial Advisor, will share his expertise on ways to effectively pay for college. The session will be in the Media Center from 6:30-8:00 p.m. No registration necessary. (for students/parents)
*College Application Day: 10/29. Students sign up in Career Center for a time during the day to complete applications in the Media Center. College Reps will be on hand. *MN Association of Counselors of Color College Fair: 10/31, This fair will be held at RAHS during the school day in the upper gym. 10, 11 and 12 graders will come to the College Fair during the 1:00-2:30 timeframe. (for students)

11th grade students who pre-registered last May to take the PSAT will take the exam on October 16 beginning at 8:10 a.m. in the gymnasiums. Students will need to bring their picture ID, calculator and two #2 pencils. They should also have their email address. The PSAT will be finished by approximately 12:30 p.m. Registration is closed.

Seven RAHS students were recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars, meaning that they were in the top 50,000 scorers among more than 1.6 million students taking the PSAT. Congratulations, scholars!

This college planning information session is primarily for grade 11 students and family members but students from all grades are welcome to attend. Hear from RAHS staff and area college representatives about the college search process and the financial aid process. No registration is necessary. Tuesday, October 15 at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium (the same night as conferences).
