SPARK Program

SPARK Program at Central Park

At the heart of this program is the SPARK lab, which was created through a generous donation by the Roseville Rotary Club.

Every student in Central Park Elementary School will use the lab one to two times per week, in addition to after-school opportunities. In the lab, students will have access to and be taught how to use high-tech equipment, including 3D printers and scanners, iPads and Chromebooks, robotics, and low-tech “makerspace”-type materials. These tools are used to “spark” student thinking, creativity, and learning using STEAM-based learning experiences.

Classes will combine Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math and will be co-led by the SPARK Program specialist and the classroom teachers. Central Park classrooms will partner with the Works Museum, Harriet Alexander Nature Center, Harambee’s environmental program, and other secondary technology programs to expand what students will be learning in the labs.

How to Enroll

Due to unique programming, four of our schools use lotteries in their enrollment process. This includes Central Park Elementary School (K-6 school featuring a SPARK Program and STEAM-based learning; including in-district transportation to any families outside of the Central Park neighborhood).

For instructions on how to participate in the lottery,  please visit our enrollment page. If you have additional questions, please contact Central Enrollment. Their contact information is provided below.

The district will process applications during the week of February 6, 2017, and families will be notified of the lottery results by U.S. mail by Friday, February 10, 2017.

General Information

All schools will offer sibling preference in placement. This means that siblings of current students will be placed into the school/program before the lottery drawing. Siblings are still required to complete a lottery application.
