Safety starts at the bus stop. Your child should be at the bus stop 5 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. All children at the stop should wait for the bus in a safe location like a driveway or sidewalk.  They should remain away from the road until the bus is completely stopped. In the winter, please remind your child that it is unsafe to climb snowbanks when waiting for or leaving a bus.

Drivers report student discipline and safety issues to the school. School staff address these issues directly with the student or students involved. The School Bus Transportation Policy 732P outlines the guidelines students are to follow on the bus and the process staff are to use in dealing with violators.

Bus stop changes will not be processed during the first two weeks of school. As the school year gets underway, we adjust pick-up times for routes that are consistently running late. Bus stop changes will be communicated to families by phone and email.

Please contact your school office with any changes to your contact information or address.

Winter weather can cause delays, and your patience is appreciated as we adjust for road conditions during these times.

Families may purchase bus service for their children who do not receive Educational Benefits under state guidelines.  Only students in grades 7-12 who live between 1 and 2 miles from their school are eligible for the fee-based bus service.

Students who qualify for the Educational Benefits program also qualify for free/reduced transportation fees. All riders must register, even those who qualify for free/reduced transportation.

The fee for a student to ride the bus to school is $200 per year.

The fee for families who qualify for reduced fees through Educational Benefits is $60 per year.

There is no fee for families qualifying for free Educational Benefits. 

There is a family maximum of $300 per year for full service and $90 for families qualifying through the Educational Benefits program.

When registering online (only Visa/Master Card accepted), no additional forms are required.  Parents/guardians using the online system for the first time will need to create an account. You will need to enter the Synergy Student ID to register when using it for the first time.

If you plan to mail transportation registration materials, download the Transportation Contract (CLICK HERE).  Please mail along with payment to: Roseville Area Schools Transportation Office, 1251 County Road B2 West, Roseville, MN 55113.  You may also drop off payments at this address.

Why is there a fee for transporting students who live under 2 miles?

State Law (MN Statute 123B.88) requires school districts to provide free transportation to all students living two miles or more from the school they attend. Because state funding is not provided to transport students living two miles or less from school, Roseville Area Schools implemented a transportation fee for students in grades 7-12 who live less than two miles from the school they attend. Students who live within two miles of school will have the following options:

• Walking to school
• Receiving a ride from a parent/guardian
• Driving themselves
• Car-pooling
• Paying a fee to ride the school bus (The fee will be waived for students who have a documented disability that requires bus transportation or for families meeting the qualifying income levels.)

The transportation service fees are necessary to offset some of the $5 million expense of providing transportation services for our students.
